What is swiss lathing?
Swiss CNC machining is a process that specializes in machining small, high-precision turning parts. A Swiss lathe is a machine that cuts a bar fed through a guide bush while the tool remains stationary. The chuck is recessed behind the guide sleeve so that the bar material held in it has better support and is not directly exposed to the bed and tooling, so that the machine can quickly and closely process the material. Swiss CNC lathes with removable headstock.

How to work?

During the turning operation, the bar material is precisely positioned radially in a chuck or chuck that is clamped in the headstock. The headstock moves back and forth along the z axis, taking away the bar. The turning tool on the combination slider is always engaged with the bar material close to the bushing, usually in the range of 1 to 3 mm, thus providing maximum support, thereby reducing vibration and tool deflection. And through the movement of the spindle and the supply of the guide sleeve to achieve continuous feed.

Machinable materials

Materials that can be machined with Swiss lathes include stainless steel, titanium alloys, brass, aluminium alloys, platinum and iridium alloys.
Function:
Round, drilling, boring, end face, turning, threading, grooving, cutting, tapping, etc.
The accuracy we can do :
Size range: 0.010" to 0.750" diameter.

Characteristics

1. Good at processing a large number of parts from the rod. It can be processed automatically until the material is exhausted.
2. The tool moves along the X axis and the workpiece moves along the Z axis.
3. Because the guide sleeve supports the workpiece and is machined near the guide sleeve, the workpiece can be machined without "hardening" or "bending". Good at long and thin workpiece processing. It is most suitable for parts that require strict precision, such as motor parts.
4. It can also process the material diameter of "φ1.0mm".

Our advantages

1. Short setting time, the cutting tool works near the guide sleeve, so the chip to chip time from one tool to the next tool can be one second or less.
2. Secondary heavy cutting helps to remove all necessary materials while preventing deformation.
3. Excellent surface finish without grinding.
4. Complex parts can be processed in one cycle with higher accuracy.
5. Suitable for mass production of complex cylindrical parts with high precision.
